This hypothesis implies that certain thoughts can only be expressed in one language, but not in another. Thus, a text given in the first language that is about such thoughts could not completely be translated into the second one. In this paper Nagel's and Davidson's notion of the concept scheme is used to refute Whorf's hypothesis in every way it could possibly be interpreted. Furthermore, it shows practical ways of how any natural language that could possibly exist or be designed in the universe can effectively be translated into any other language. This explains why pictures of time increasing its pace occur in western societies even though neither the days nor the lives of people become shorter. In this work, it is shown that the notion of time is affiliated with specific moral values influencing the way things are handled and the things people strive for. Through an examination of the different concepts of time prevalent in the Middle Ages and in the late eighteenth century (specifically Hegel's philosophy of time), specific moral values of these societies are revealed. These moral values strongly influence decision making in short-term as well as in long-term issues. They inspire the goals people have for their lives and they affect the management of everyday life activities. This work also uses these cultures as examples of how to make this connection between the notion of time, the morality, the living conditions and the way specific issues are dealt with.…

These problems are rooted in the motives of students and the working climate at school. So, the most promising question to ask is: why do successful students go to school What makes them interested in school and which motives may be dissatisfied Therefore a survey was carried out at a high school in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. In the survey, 63 students (male and female) were asked about their motives to come to school and the satisfaction of these motives. Also, some research was conducted on prior studies. In this way, a cross-cultural comparison between the student's motives and their satisfaction at the Canadian high school and at two German high schools became possible. …
