The awkward prose and skewed perspectives Flumiani had on the markets in the 60's and 70's are now a welcome diversion to what is otherwise a generally straight jacketed approach by other authors to explain stock market price movement. The Secret Sexual Life of the Stock Market is probably the most entertaining of the Flumiani Collection, and in my opinion actually one of his most coherent. This was the first book Flumiani authored as Fleming, the 2nd was "The Failure of the American Democracy," in 1973, and at least one more in 1977. Extremely Scarce Title, Collectible Reprint.

The definitions are real, and there seems to be a genuine effort on the part of the author to give women--who may not have had access to the formal financial education that men had--a real understanding of the stock market.

These propositions establish the foundations for the Cylinder Theory and outline the content of law. The second part deals with various concrete applications of the Cylinder Theory. This part runs from page 24 to page 38. The part is divided into six distinct applications. The third part is dedicated to the analysis of the cylinder in depth. We discover that there are two cylinders in the cylinder and in the three propositions we attempt to capture the nature of such cylinders and the role they play in the law of conflict. Finally, the fourth part is devoted to four different applications of the two-cylinder conception of the Cylinder Theory. The tone he writes with is "rage" for almost 50 pages as he rants and continues to rant about the "deceit" of GOLD and the "deceit" of a long list of other organizations, concepts and ideas. If you're a perma-bear you'll love this one. It's just very interesting to me that Flumiani had such a strong opinion about the lack of GOLD's value. He was VERY adament that the price of GOLD was going to move lower and I feel including this excerpt if the best way to describe the main concepts and tone of the book. This is from page 2 where he talks about the nine deceits of gold: "BUT GOLD HAS also lost its second precious advantage: the advantage of a stable price. In 1972, the price of gold was approximately $50 an ounce. In February of 1973, the international price had increased to $65 an oz. Just one month later, the price had climbed to $90 an oz. and there are to-day individuals lecturing and writing to the effect that very soon GOLD will be selling at $380, and even at $500 an oz. These individuals are, of course, mad: they are absolutely insane, but they are always able to find an audience who will listen to them so ignorant and so prone to deceit are the masses, the living masses of mankind. In the face of price changes as the ones indicated above, GOLD is no longer, of course, a commodity with price stability and on this score along, it is utterly unfitted to be used as an international monetary currency." -- Whew, that's some spirited prose. As with many of Flumiani's books, the title is "sometimes" what the book contains and this one is no different. The first 18 pages are specifically about the Deceit of GOLD and his view on some monetary issues, but the rest 53 pages are somewhat related but he goes on to ramble about the "13 Major Deceits of the Wall Street Intellectuals," "The Deceit of Devaluation," "The Magic Deceit of the P/E Ratio." and a few more rants. Flumiani is strong in his convictions and it's one of the reasons his books are so entertaining to read, even if you don't agree with his opinions. Very Rare Flumiani Title. Collectible Reprint.

But, in addition, this si truly and encyclopedia of Wall Street and Stock Market ideas, language, operations, movements, suggestions and practices. Softcover, Plastic spiral bound, Green card wraps with hand written black felt pen title to cover with yellow felt pen underlining (in true Flumiani style), Approximate publication date is 1973 although there is no clear reference in the book. Book Condition: Very Good, some age toning to wraps and text, and corners are bumped. Pages are clean and free of marks, overall in Very Good physical condition. No Dust Jacket. Contents: First I must say that this is the most passionate of all the books I've read by Flumiani. The tone he writes with is "rage" for almost 50 pages as he rants and continues to rant about the "deceit" of GOLD and the "deceit" of a long list of other organizations, concepts and ideas. If you're a perma-bear you'll love this one. It's just very interesting to me that Flumiani had such a strong opinion about the lack of GOLD's value. He was VERY adament that the price of GOLD was going to move lower and I feel including this excerpt if the best way to describe the main concepts and tone of the book. This is from page 2 where he talks about the nine deceits of gold: "BUT GOLD HAS also lost its second precious advantage: the advantage of a stable price. In 1972, the price of gold was approximately $50 an ounce. In February of 1973, the international price had increased to $65 an oz. Just one month later, the price had climbed to $90 an oz. and there are to-day individuals lecturing and writing to the effect that very soon GOLD will be selling at $380, and even at $500 an oz. These individuals are, of course, mad: they are absolutely insane, but they are always able to find an audience who will listen to them so ignorant and so prone to deceit are the masses, the living masses of mankind. In the face of price changes as the ones indicated above, GOLD is no longer, of course, a commodity with price stability and on this score along, it is utterly unfitted to be used as an international monetary currency." -- Whew, that's some spirited prose. As with many of Flumiani's books, the title is "sometimes" what the book contains and this one is no different. The first 18 pages are specifically about the Deceit of GOLD and his view on some monetary issues, but the rest 53 pages are somewhat related but he goes on to ramble about the "13 Major Deceits of the Wall Street Intellectuals," "The Deceit of Devaluation," "The Magic Deceit of the P/E Ratio." and a few more rants. Flumiani is strong in his convictions and it's one of the reasons his books are so entertaining to read, even if you don't agree with his opinions. What makes it even more fun is reading this book in 2010, 37 years after this was written and to see Gold at $1100 oz. Looks like burying a pound of gold in the back yard in 1973 would have been a good idea. Very Rare Flumiani Title. Collectible.

Flumiani inviting prospects to become a member of his International Conference for a Single Monetary Unit, no date but we estimate mid 1970s, Condition: Very Good, someone (likely Flumiani) hand wrote in blue pen the following inscription to the top front page of this piece, "Do join us in one of the greatest undertakings of the century." (see photo), light wear to edges, pages tanned otherwise unmarked. Contents: Above all, Carlo Marie Flumiani was a salesman. In this piece he lays down all the reasons we should make a tax deductible monetary pledge to his "conference" in order to provide the world with a stable currency. Here is an excerpt from the front page, " This College has taken an historically important initiative. You know of the conditions of monetary chaos which exists at present in the world due to the confusion of over 100 national currencies whose value is constantly fluctuating. These conditions of monetary chaos make international trade difficult, foreign investments risky and they are one of the chief causes of economic crises, international unrest and the abject poverty into which live vast masses of human beings. This College because of the importance it places upon the pursuit of international studies has created THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR A SINGLE MONETARY UNIT. I AM EXTENDING YOU AN URGENT INVITATION to join this Conference. Very few initiatives are a important as this one. The world is economically, financially and monetarily confronted with the crucial and imperative need to give to itself an element of monetary stability if any progress is being made toward the better exploitation of the wealth of this globe and its better distribution among the peoples of the earth." What is peculiar about this piece is that Flumiani talks about a "CONFERENCE," yet NO DATE of this so-called conference is ever mentioned. It turns out to be more of a piece to generate donations to his cause. For those who know of Flumiani's colorful legal past, this line of invitation comes as no surprise. Despite, Flumiani's methods he most certainly DID author and publish some classics on trading and market psychology. His name is rarely mentioned anymore, but for several decades from the late 1950s to the late 1970s he published well over 50 market related titles. This is a collectible piece of original Flumiani ephemera. 7 pp.
