Paperback. Condición: Fair. Written during F. Scott Fitzgerald's Hollywood years, a witty collection of tales where humor and heartbreak collide through the eyes of a once-successful screenwriter--now with a new foreword by Fitzgerald's great-granddaughter Blake Hazard and a bonus Pat Hobby story that has never before been published in print. Literary legend F. Scott Fitzgerald pulls back the curtain on the glitz, chaos, and absurdity of the movie industry through the eyes of Pat Hobby, a screenwriter clinging to his faded dreams. Pat's amusing misadventures offer a glimpse into the life of a man caught between the illusions of ambition and reality's disappointments. Set in 1930s Hollywood--a place where lunchroom gossip held as much power as the scripts themselves--Pat's world is one of desperation and hustle. Once celebrated for his screenwriting, he's now a relic, scraping by on odd jobs and his half-baked schemes to make a buck. Pat navigates town with a blend of cunning and futility. "This was not art, this was an industry," he observes, capturing the soul of a system where creativity takes a back seat to profit. Originally published in Esquire from 1939 to 1940, these stories were born from Fitzgerald's own struggles to make it in Hollywood. The result is a darkly funny and brilliantly crafted portrait of an antihero writer who's willing to go for broke.…

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. This first edition ever published of Trimalchio, an early and complete version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby now appears in paperback. Fitzgerald wrote the novel as Trimalchio and submitted it to Maxwell Perkins, his editor at Scribner's, who had the novel set in type and the galleys sent to Fitzgerald in France. Fitzgerald then virtually rewrote the novel in galleys, producing the book we know as The Great Gatsby. This ur-version, Trimalchio, has never been published and is markedly different from The Great Gatsby: two chapters were completely rewritten for the published novel, and the rest of the book was heavily revised. Characterization is different, the narrative voice of Nick Carraway is altered and, most importantly, the revelation of Jay Gatsby's past is handled in a wholly different way. …

Condición: Good. This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentionalunintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPY READING.…

Paperback. Condición: Good. One of the classics of twentieth-century literature, The Great Gatsby is now available in a definitive, textually accurate edition. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan has been acclaimed by generations of readers. But the first edition contained a number of errors resulting from Fitzgerald's extensive revisions and a rushed production schedule. Subsequent printings introduced further departures from the author's words. This edition, based on the Cambridge critical text, restores all the language of Fitzgerald's masterpiece. Drawing on the manuscript and surviving proof of the novel, along with Fitzgerald's later revisions and corrections, this is the authorized text - The Great Gatsby as Fitzgerald intended it. …
