Dem Vorwort von Eiselen entsprechend sollte dieses Werk der 2. Auflage dem zusammen mit Jahn herausgegebenen Klassiker "Deutsche Turnkunst" beigelegt werden. 1847 erschien dann tatsächlich eine 2. Auflage der Deutschen Turnkunst, allerdings - durch den Tod Eiselens bedingt - nur der erste Teil; mehr ist dann nicht mehr erschienen. - Eiselen (1793-1846) war einer der engsten Weggefährten Jahns und übernahm während des deutsch-französischen Krieges, an dem Jahn teilnahm, die Leitung des Berliner Turnplatzes.
