The last Tsaritsa of Russia, Alexandra Feodorovna, was murdered with her family on the night of 16-17 July 1918 by agents acting on behalf of the revolutionary Bolshevik government. The story of the demise of the Romanov dynasty has been recounted many times. This book - the recently declassified… 1918 diary of Alexandra - aims to provide something no other account could do: a glimpse of the Tsaritsa's thoughts and activities from 1 January 1918 until the night of her death. As the granddaughter of Queen Victoria, Alexandra wrote in English, though her native language was German and she became fluent in Russian after her marriage to Nicholas. The 1918 diary takes us into her private world, revealing the care she lavished on her children during this period of revolutionary turmoil, how she felt towards her husband, Tsar Nicholas, and what she imagined about the profound struggle - between past and present, old and new worlds, the sacred and the profane - then occurring over the destiny of Russia. The diary reveals that even in her most intimate reflections, she remained the representative of a great system of belief that had prevailed for hundreds of years in Russia and that she and Nicholas hoped to perpetuate. We see in detail the daily confrontation between this system of belief and the reality of the modern world that had, in every sense, broken free of her and Nicholas's control. The Tsaritsa's diary is accompanied by an introduction by Robert Massie. A biographical portrait of Alexandra, the introduction places her in the historical context of the revolution, her marriage to Nicholas, and the events that encompassed her, her family, and her nation. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

The author of nine books, she is… a regular contributor to Majesty magazine and was consultant on the Danish documentaries A Royal Family and The Royal Jewels. ; Senta Driver was a dancer, choreographer, and writer; she began studying dance in graduate school, and received her masters in dance from the Ohio State University in 1966. Following graduation, Driver joined the Paul Taylor Dance Company of New York City in 1967, which she danced with until 1973. In 1974, she founded her own dance company, HARRY, also based in New York City. Driver choreographed and danced with the company until 1991. At this time, she closed the company due to lack of funds, and trained as a neonatal ICU nurse. As of 2019, Driver is working on a book about her family's genealogical history. ; "In 1906 Queen Alexandra and her sister the Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia purchased Hvidore, a villa on the Danish coast, a private home. The first world war put an end to those happy times but in 1919, no exiled from Russia, the Dowager Empress made the vila her home and Hvidore became a court in exile. Lamsdorff knows her address, please let him know. Hoping to see you at 12 [.]". - Slight trace…s of former mounting on verso. Written on both sides of her attractive printed stationery featuring her name in Russian beneath an embossed crown printed in silver. According to documentary sources, much of Alexandra Feodorovna's personal correspondence was destroyed, and only rarely do any of her unpublished letters come to light (we are obliged to Elizabeth Jane Timms for additional information).
