One paper of particular note: 'The Edison Central-Station Electric Lighting System' by William J. Jenks, a close associate of Thomas Edison. Jenks' lecture (13 pp.) describes the Edison Company's early municipal lighting operations in New York City, with some added coverage of its contemporaneous project in Brockton, MA. Thomson's lecture (6 pp., 1886) is on the subject of the then newly developed technique of electric arc welding.
