Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer) der von Max Eiselin geleiteten Expedition die erste Besteigung des 8222m hohen Dhaulagiri, des bis dahin höchsten noch unbestiegenen Berges der Erde. Zur Materialversorgung des Lager II auf ca. 5700 m Höhe, kam auch ein kleines Gletscherflugzeug (Pilatus-Porter PC-6), das auf den Namen "Yeti" getauft wurde, zum Einsatz.
