Lawrence, Kay Boyle, Henry Miller, and other avant-garde Eurpopean writers of pre-war Europe. Handsomely bound in grey cloth boards,stamped with red lettering. 2 owner signatures are present, otherwise as new.

Fascinating international record of the radical pacifist take on the times with some contributors from the first series still represented notably Jean Giono's last installment of Refusal to Obey (he died as the first issue was going to press), Kay Boyle & Hervey White. A number of the new series contributors are listed under pseudonymns.Mark Phillips makes an effective case for "Giles Weaver" being J. D. Salinger.
