This is Volume 47 in The American Exploration and Travel Series. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O business sticker on the FFFP. Book Condition: Ver…y Good; light shelfwear. DJ: Near Fine; NOT Price Clipped ($3.75); light edge bumping to DJ; light wear to head, tail, and tips. The DJ was taped to both endpapers and this has been corrected to free the DJ; light scuffing on endpapers as a result. Green cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering in a black shadowbox on the spine. 79 pp 8vo. The three authors heard reports of the natural wonders of Yellowstone and motivated by a desire for adventure as well as their desire to map the region, the three men departed Diamond City, Montana Territory in 1869. Despite their encounters with hostile Indians, a shortage of food and supplies, and other dangers and hardships, they were able to complete the exploration and confirm the report of earlier and less literate visitors. They were the first of several explorations which led to the creation of our first national park. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.

No date on title page. 188 pages. Good condition. Binding is strong and covers are square. Añadir al carritoSoftcover. Condición: Very Good. Vol. IV, No. 7. Small octavo. 98pp. Stapled wrappers. Wrappers toned with moderate wear and soil, corners gently bumped, a very good copy. A single but notable issue from this influential and important digest, which was the foundation of the Johnson Publishing empire. In addition to excerpting ar…ticles by and about African-Americans from other publications, there was also much original content written expressly for the magazine. This issue is especially notable for printing the articles "Love or Babies: Must Negro Mothers Choose?" by Margaret Sanger; "condensations" from Mbonue Ojike's *My Africa* and Erskine Caldwell's *In the Uplands*; and war correspondent W. Randy Dixon's article on Black WWII hero Corporal Waverly Woodson Jr.; and David O. Selznick's "Negro Lobby in Hollywood." The monthly article "If I Were A Negro" was penned by author and activist Fannie Cook, and titled "An Atomic Approach to Racism." An important magazine; early issues are uncommon.
