Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition. 8vo. x, 552, [12] pp. With the 5 folding maps. In the publisher's navy ribbed cloth, gilt-stamped to spine. The volume has been fully conserved including re-backing with spine strip laid down. He is quoted as believing that this resulted in his knighthood awarded in 1902. It is also significant in being his first work of non-fiction, a branch of his writing that came to be dominated by his later interest in spiritualism. Boards with a little water-marking at tail and half-title with a neat contemporary ownership signature, else unmarked. A very good copy.…
