Aufgrund seiner eigenen leidvollen Erfahrungen wandte er sich entschieden gegen jede Form von Nationalismus und Chauvinismus, gegen Diskriminierung nationaler, rassischer und religiöser Minderheiten. Zamenhofs Ziel war nicht esoterische oder sektiererische Sprachbastelei, sondern er schuf unter schwierigsten Bedingungen die Grundlage zur Verwirklichung seiner zutiefst humanistischen Ideen eine wirklich einfache und neutrale Universalsprache, die der Verständigung aller Menschen dient.
