Condition: Good. Original blue cloth hardcover with gilt lettering to the spine. Binding remains sound. Boards show considerable mottled fading, rubbing, surface spotting, and handling wear. Corners and spine ends are bumped and rubbed, with fraying and a small area of cloth loss or puncture near the head of the spine. Gilt spine lettering remains readable but is somewhat dulled. Page edges are age-toned. The photographed interior pages are clean and legible, with no ownership inscription or extensive annotation visible. Dust jacket is not present. A sound scholarly reading copy. This wide-ranging collection offers a revealing contemporary view of scientific achievement at the midpoint of the twentieth century.
