Añadir al carritoHard Cover. Condición: Fine. No Jacket. A new, unread book in excellent condition. 96 pages. 9 1/8"w x 10 1/4"h. Thirty black artists explore contemporary visual traces of the Black Panther Party. From the publisher: In 1966 Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, two college students in Oakland, California, launched The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. Officially active for less than twenty years (1966-1982), the Panthers indelibly pierced the public consciousness, and for many its legacy remains controversial witness the virulent responses to Beyonce Knowles' 2016 Super Bowl performance that included an homage to the Panthers through dancers in berets and black leather outfits. That visua gun-toting, well-dressed black men with berets and gun-toting, well-dressed women with Afros is what most of mainstream America, if they know anything at all, think of with regard to the Black Panther Party. This book, All Power: Visual Legacies of the Black Panther Party, evolved from correspondence and conversation with a select list of contemporary black artists who answered the call and submitted work that was from their perspective related to the Party. They include emerging and internationally acclaimed practitioners from around the nation, women and men spanning thirty to seventy years of age. Keywords: Huey Newton, Bobby Seale, Black Power, Black Panthers 2.

Published on the occasion of the 2003 exhibition Oliver Boberg at Kunstverein Hannover (also traveled to other locations). Out of print. Very scarce. Near Fine (light bumps to corners; print has a 1/4" crease in the upper right white margin, not affecting the image area). From the publisher: "One of the most interesting artistic personalities of his generation, Oliver Boberg has, since the late 80s, been making small models of urban settings, which he then photographs in such a way that their model quality almost totally disappears. The reality presented in his photographs of underpasses and flat-roofed buildings is one of a non-location, a place which is so familiar that it could be anywhere and nowhere. Boberg's videos from 2002 and 2003 show nocturnal landscape views which seem to be based on film scenarios, but these works, too, reproduce scale models. The 16mm films transferred to DVD show eerie situations which are devoid of people: a foreboding cliff or a country road seen at twilight during a dreary rainstorm. The model of this non-location here becomes a detail of a story which is rich in allusions, charged with a cinematic suspense and fearful expectation. This publication brings together for the first time the photographs, video stills, and drawings by this young German artist." Signed by Author.
