The book is attributed to Gideon M. Davidson, one of the publishers and Samuel Williams. This history was originally issued in eight parts over the course of the war, this is the first bound edition, 39 chapters with continuous pagination. On the ffep is written in ink "Amos Drury's Book Price $2.50". Ink stamp "Amos Drury's". According to the U.S. Bounty And Warrant, Private Amos Drury of (Pittsford) Vermont served in the year 1812 under Capt. Caleb Henda (Hendee?) and Colonel Fossett. The "Sketches" include these details: "comparative view of the force and loss of the British and American fleets"; lists of the British vesels captured during the years 1812, 1813, 1814 and 1815. FIRST BOOK EDITION, VERY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN GOOD CONDITION.
