Añadir al carritoCondición: Fine. New York, October 24, 1956., 1956. Fine. - Two postage stamps, one a 3 cent stamp, the other an 8 cent one, depicting the United Nations General Assembly Hall. The stamps are affixed to the 3-3/4 inch high by 6-1/2 inch wide "United Nations / Nations Unies / New York" envelope. Both stamps bear the "United Nations / New York" and "First Day of Issue" cancellation stamps. The envelope is inscribed to Fridolf Johnson by Kurt Plowitz. "For Fridolf from Ti-Tu-Plowitz, designer". Fine. The Czech-born American artist Kurt Plowitz (1912-1969) was a prominent graphic artist who worked for the United Nations Presentation Unit. Plowitz designed several UN commemorative issues during the 1950's. An illustrator and artist as well as a fine pressman, the recipient Fridolf Johnson was an editor of American Artist Magazine until his retirement in the 1970's. As a graphic artist, he designed title panels for Hollywood movies and art & typography for advertising as well as dust jacket illustrations. He wrote and illustrated his own children's books in addition to other works. He also compiled and edited the Knopf book "Rockwell Kent: An Anthology of His Work".…

Jaromir Tomecek [Czechoslovakia (Czech and Slovak: Ceskoslovensko, Cesko-Slovensko) was a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until its peaceful dissolution into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1 January 1993]. Illustrated by Mirko Hanák (26 June 1921 in Martin - 4 November 1971 in Prague) was a Czech painter, graphic artist, and illustrator who became famous mainly for his distinctive illustrations and lithographs with natural themes.
