This was a lecture given on the evening of November 27, 1896 to students of the printing school, St. Bride Foundation Institute in London .Reproduction proofs of the original letterpress edition were provided to Blackwell North America for this special edition of 1400 copies. The text is set in Poliphilus and Blado italic types. John DePol designed and engraved the Morris-inspired ornaments. Edited with a new introduction by William S. Peterson. The paper for this edition is Mohawk Superfine, an archival quality sheet. Laid in is a letter from Blackwell North America. Spine faded.

In the other 1200 copies the portrait is in black only and printed offset." 8vo, pp. x, [2], 34, [2]; portrait frontispiece and 2 plates engraved by John de Pol; original blue paper-covered boards, printed in black on upper cover and spine; fine. The lecture from which this book draws its text was one of "the most balanced, nonpartisian appraisals of Morris as a printer." and earlier copies of it quickly became quite scarce. There were two other issues printed, one in an edition of 155, and another of 200. Walsdorf A16.
