Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Moderate tanning, with light foxing and marking to pages. Cracking to hinges, causing boards to be loose. Fep is loose. Some rub-marking and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers with inserts to front. Boards have moderate shelf wear, with rubbing and marking. Light bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends. Binding remains firm. Heavy tanning overall. Small dewy label taped to bottom spine.

Nice book, tight and square with bright covers and spine, hinges starting but sturdy binding, clean unmarked interior. Many illustrations. Beware modern reprints of this work; most are scanned copies with inferior print quality, illustrations, and binding compared to this original edition.

The front and spine are beautifully decorated with black, gray and gold and red.
