(12060) Terza edizione di questo trattato dell'illustre medi…co napoletano, apparso originariamente a Napoli nel 1783, frutto di innumerevoli esami di casi clinici e osservazioni anatomiche, rilevate durante l'esperienza maturata dal Cirillo all'Ospedale degli Incurabili di Napoli. Domenico Cirillo (1739-1799), medico e patriota napoletano, professore di Patologia all'Università di Napoli, divenne anche medico della famiglia reale dei Borboni di Napoli. Amico degli illuministi francesi, simpatizzò subito per la Rivoluzione. Con l'arrivo dei francesi a Napoli fu chiamato dal gen. Championnet a far parte del Corpo Legislativo, insieme con Mario Pagano. Col ritorno di Ferdinando IV a Napoli, fu imprigionato, condannato e infine giustiziato il 29 ottobre del 1799 insieme con gli altri protagomisti della breve Repubblica Partenopea. Rarissima edizione siciliana non censita in ICCU (la prima, anch'essa rara, era stata stampata a Napoli nel 1794) di questo trattatello sulle febbri e sulla composizione e l'uso della "polvere di Jame…s" o "fever powder", un rimedio inventato dal medico inglese Robert James (1703-1776), membro del Royal College of Physicians. Nonostante la sua efficacia non venne mai verificata (dal '900 è infatti considerata "quackery", una ciarlataneria), la polvere di James circolò dal 1747, data del suo brevetto che portò nelle casse di James ingenti guadagni, fino quasi al XX secolo. Firma di possesso al frontespizio. Esemplare molto buono.
