Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed history of the town of Lebanon, New Hampshire, from its founding in the mid-18th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The author, Rev. Charles A. Downs, was a historian and pastor who spent many years researching and writing about the town's past. The book is based on extensive research in primary sources, including town records, newspapers, and personal papers. Downs' history of Lebanon provides a comprehensive overview of the town's development, from its early days as a frontier settlement to its growth into a thriving industrial center. He discusses the town's role in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. He also examines the economic, social, and cultural changes that took place in Lebanon during the 19th century. One of the strengths of this book is its focus on the everyday lives of the people who lived in Lebanon. Downs includes many anecdotes and stories that illustrate the challenges and hardships faced by the early settlers and the ways in which the community evolved over time. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Lebanon, New Hampshire, or in the history of New England more generally.
