In der vorliegenden Publikation dient die Deutsche Heimschule Kreuzberg als Exempel für die Umformung einer katholischen Schule in eine National-politische Erziehungsanstalt. Im Fokus stehen die Maßnahmen gegen die katholische Kirche, die bis zur Machtübernahme durch die Nationalsozialisten eine bestimmende Position im Salzburger Schulwesen eingenommen hatte. Es werden anhand schriftlicher Quellen und Zeitzeugenberichten die Schritte bis zur Enteignung dargestellt sowie die Reaktionen und Folgen für Schule und Schüler analysiert.Ausgehend von den Zielen der NS-Erziehungspolitik wird untersucht, inwieweit sich diese in der Geschichte der Deutschen Heimschule Kreuzberg widerspiegeln. Thematisiert wird die politische Instrumentalisierung der Schule im Nationalsozialis-mus und welche Konsequenzen sich für die Anstalt Kreuzberg und ihre Schüler daraus ergaben.
