Nacque e visse nella regione di Siena ed Arezzo nel XVI secolo. I Cinque Canti nacquero dall'esigenza di rispondere all'osservazione pedantesca che accusava il Tasso di aver lasciato senza risoluzione degli episodi particolari della Gerusalemme.
