Vier korte brieven op bedrukt briefpapier, waarvan twee met enveloppe. In totaal 30 klein met kriebelbalpen geschreven regels. Met een kleine foto van Röling (.'waarop inktkrassen zitten. Ik heb geen andere', met copyrightstempel van Dick de Herder voor de VARA) en een zwartwitfoto van een portret van de hoogleraar, geschilderd door zijn zoon Matthijs Röling. Met een stencil van een radiolezing van B.V.A. Röling 'Is de enkeling machteloos?' gehouden op 19 januari 1962 voor de VPRO. Drie dichtbedrukte kantjes op papier met VPRO-beeldmerk. En een typoscript van een artikel (twee kantjes, met enkele verbeteringen), getiteld 'Gedachten bij de moord op Kennedy'. Ondertekend in handschrift: 'Prof.Dr. B.V.A. Röling' en met een handgeschreven notitie achterop: 'Ziehier het gevraagde artikeltje. Ik zou graag te zijner tijd een exemplaar van de schoolkrant toegestuurd krijgen '. Bijzondere collectie! Prof. B.V.A. (Bert) Röling (1906-1985) was hoogleraar volkenrecht en polemologie. In Groningen zette hij het Instituut voor Polemologie op. Deze brieven zijn gericht aan een jeugdig familielid, Theo, die nog op de middelbare school zat en in 1961 vermoedelijk zestien was. Deze achterneef, de kleinzoon van een broer van Bert Rölings ouders, zou een groot verzamelaar van foto's en handschriften van bekende personen worden, en schreef al jong aan zijn beroemde familielid. Als verre verwanten kenden ze elkaar niet, maar prof. Röling is welwillend en schrijft de jongen ondanks zijn drukke bezigheden een aantal brieven. Hij helpt Theo aan een radiolezing en zelfs aan een artikel om in de schoolkrant te plaatsen, niet onbelangrijk, een artikel over de moord op John F. Kennedy op 22 november 1963. '[Kennedy] was een man, die met groot gevoel voor het morelijke - politiek in de kunst van het mogelijke - Amerika leidde naar eenredelijke politiek. Hij ging er van uit dan in de wereld volken op verschillende wijzen streven naar hun welzijn. Hij was bereid die verscheidenheid te erkennen, en wilde de wereld maken "safe for diversity", zoals hij 10 juni 1963 in de universiteit van Washington verklaarde. (.) In Kennedy's treffende formulering: "Man holds in his moral hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty, and all forms of human life".
