Añadir al carritoTrade Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Comstock, David - Design Ilustrador. First Edition Assumed. 250 Pages. No marks of any sort and the text pages are bright, tight, and white. In addition to the eleven articles on Yellowstone There is: A Note on the Readings, Notes, Suggestions for Further Reading and Bibliography. Over thirty years after its original publication, former Yellowstone National Park archivist Paul Schullery's collection of travelers' accounts of their visits to the first national park still resonates with the tremendous impact the Park has had--and continues to have--as a wilderness and recreation destination. From John Muir's exultation of the beauty of "Wonderland" to Rudyard Kipling's hilarious invective of the American tourist, Old Yellowstone Days includes selections which form the best picture of what Yellowstone must have been like before the intrusion of the automobile. Updated with a new introduction by Schullery, new illustrations, and a new foreword by Yellowstone National Park Historian Lee Whittlesey, this volume, which takes its title from an article by Owen Wister, also includes the impressions of William O. Owen, Charles Dudley Warner, Theodore Roosevelt, John Burroughs, Mrs. George Cowan, George Anderson, Emerson Hough, and Frederic Remington.

Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. Cover credited to H.W. McCauley and J. Allen St. John / Interior B&W illustrations by J. Allen St. John Ilustrador. 1st Edition. This vintage, large 8vo pulp magazine is intact, complete, "good-plus." would grade higher save for two small holes to top left of front wrap near the letter "f" -- they don't penetrate into the text block, but look almost as though someone contemplated punching holes for mounting or storage in a binder. Marvelous color cover illustration credited to BOTH H.W. McCauley and J. Allen St. John, which is unusual. This issue also includes Robert Leslie Bellem's "Robots Can't Lie" and William P. McGivern's "Doorway of Vanishing Men." Calling Burroughs' 36-page story "Goddess of Fire" a "novel" is a bit of a stretch -- in fact it's the second of four interlinking stories (following "Slaves of the Fish Men", preceding "The Living Dead" and "War on Venus" -- published sequentially in Fantastic Adventures 1941-42, later fixed up into the Carson Napier science fiction / fantasy novel "Escape on Venus" (1946.)
