Publisher's eight page advertising section at rear. Binding still firm. A typical Southern pro-slavery secessionist, Columbus, Mississippi attorney and circuit judge William Littleton Harris (1807-1868) was born in Georgia but moved to Lowndes County, Mississippi in 1837. In 1858 Harris was appointed by Governor John J. McRae to a seat on the Mississippi High Court of Errors and Appeals (now the Supreme Court of Mississippi) and during the Civil War was Mississippi's commissioner to Georgia. Harris' eldest child - daughter Sarah Hunt Harris (1836-1917) - married Columbus attorney and later Confederate Army general Jacob H. Sharp.
