The real story behind her legendary life and bygone days in El Paso have been carefully researched and interestingly narrated by Ruby Burns. The book is designed by Carl Hertzog. She married a railroad executive, whom she had first met when touring and was widowed eighteen years later. There were some difficult years, but as El Paso grew, her wealth from real estate ventures also increased. Thoughout her life she was generous in donating to the city and at her death she bequeathed the University of Texas as El Paso over three million dollars. Color frontispiece, photographs, including some in color. An attractive volume, a small quarto,designed by Carl Hertzog and bound in turquoise cloth boards, with a gilt fan on the front cover, over a lavender cloth spine. Index. xvi, 143 pp. Fine in near fine dust jacket (price-clipped).
