These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. In 1798 his report on defense guided measures to meet the French threat. Bruce was to write a similar report on the requirements of the circumstances created by the uneasy peace of Amiens in 1801. A report published in 1799 dealt with the Anglo-Scottish union, as a precedent for the projected Irish union. See ODNB.

A letter thanking the recipient for the invitation to a function. Alexander Hugh Bruce, 6th Lord Balfour of Burleigh, 1849-1921 was a Scottish Unionist politician, banker and statesman, who took a leading part in the affairs of the Church of Scotland. He was Secretary for Scotland between 1895 and 1903. Sir James King, 1st Baronet,1830-1911 was a Scottish businessman who served as Lord Provost of Glasgow 1886 to 1889. He was Director of the Clydesdale Bank for over forty years. He was also Chairman of the Caledonian Railway Company. Size of letter is 187mm x 120mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases.
