Previously held in the library of Rupert Alexander Alec Smith, an English historian who founded the Georgian School for East Yorkshire and served with the Green Howards in Cyprus during the Second World War. Bound in half calf with brown cloth binding. Externally sound with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Front board detached, rear joint starting but firm. Loss to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to preface page. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Fair. None (ilustrador). book.
