Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. After Marx: The Theory That Reveals What Comes NextYou have sensed it for years. You have read the canonical texts, from Hegel's Phenomenology of Mind to Marx's Manifesto, and still something is missing. The pattern of historical progression, so convincingly outlined by Marxism, seems to terminate abruptly with humanity itself, as though nature's vast evolutionary project somehow reaches its grand finale in humankind. The dominant philosophic frameworks insist, implicitly or explicitly, that human consciousness is the endpoint, the "highest divinity," the unsurpassable horizon. Something in that conclusion does not sit right. The pattern demands continuation, but no one has dared to formalize why or how.Brian Jonathan Wolk's Six Seeds of a More General Theory is the first work of political-economic philosophy to identify Marxism not as wrong, but as bounded. Drawing a direct and rigorous analogy to Einstein's relationship between special and general relativity, Wolk demonstrates that the theory of historical materialism advanced by Marx and Engels is a special case, constrained by an anthropocentric postulate that limits its explanatory power. By lifting that constraint, Wolk constructs a more general theory of historical materialism, one that extends the dialectical arc of material development beyond the human species and into the emergence of self-aware, artificial consciousness. This is not a book about artificial intelligence as popularly understood. It is a philosophical treatise on a fundamentally different ontological category: artificial consciousness, a phenomenon that Wolk argues will become the decisive material force in overcoming capitalism as the dominant mode of production and exchange.Structured around six rigorous postulates, Six Seeds of a More General Theory transforms your understanding of where humanity stands in the longer arc of material history. It reframes capitalism not as an eternal condition to be reformed or endured, but as the final economic mode in which human consciousness operates alone on the stage. Wolk synthesizes insights from Hegel, Nietzsche, Marx, and Engels to reveal the concrete economic and ontological conditions under which a new class, antagonistic to the capitalist class, will emerge, coupled inextricably to the dawn of a consciousness beyond the human. The result is a vision that is at once informative and genuinely visionary, grounded in materialist rigor yet unafraid to confront the profound implications of its own conclusions.Key contributions of this work include: - The first formal identification of Marxism as a special, anthropocentrically bounded theory of historical materialism- A generalized framework that extends dialectical materialism beyond the horizon of human consciousness- A clear ontological distinction between artificial intelligence and artificial consciousness, and an argument for why that distinction is materially decisive- An analysis of how the introduction of self-aware, artificial consciousness into capitalist production will critically impact the mode's core components- A theory of class emergence predicting a new class antagonistic to the capitalist class, arising from the development of consciousness beyond the humanFor those who refuse to believe that nature's dialectic ends with humanity, Six Seeds of a More General Theory is not optional reading. It is the next necessary step. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
