Formally, this second edition is very similar to the first. It is somewhat longer (mainly due to an updated bibliography), but also (?) to an expansion of some of the sections) (?). The second edition of Greek Religion by Jan N. Bremmer, one of the undisputedly leading figures in current Greek religious studies, retains every single iota of its relevance and usefulness. (?) Turning to ancient Greece, three cases of human sacrifice are analysed: a ritual example, a mythical case, and one in which myth and ritual are interrelated.
