Paperback. Condición: New. A comprehensive discussion of an important but elusive Lacanian concept within the field of psychoanalysis, as well as its relevance for philosophy, literature, gender, and queer studies.Whether inscribed within the context of capitalist or neoliberal logic and its imperative to "enjoy," as a critique of all forms of heteronormativity, a liberating force in a positive reading of biopolitics, the point of inflection in the ethics of psychoanalysis, or articulated in the knot of the sinthome, the concept of jouissance is either the diagnosis, response, or solution for a wide range of contemporary discontents. Why does jouissance occupy such a central place in contemporary psychoanalytic discourse? What is jouissance the name for? Originally published in Spanish in 1990, later expanded and translated into French and Portuguese, with multiple reprints in all three languages, this book addresses both theoretical and clinical applications of jouissance through a comprehensive overview of key terms in Lacan's grammar. Néstor A. Braunstein also examines it in relation to central debates within the fields of psychoanalysis, philosophy, queer theory, and literary studies to further explore the implications of Lacan's concept for contemporary thought.…

soft cover. Condición: as new. first edition.

Condición: New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Nuevo. 1. Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Julio Cortázar once stated, with the security of one promulgating a law, 'Memory starts with dread'. Following that clue the author finds the traces of that banal and terrible 'first recollection' not only in the work of this Argentine novelist but also in Freud's entire theory of psychoanalysis; in certain sonnets of Shakespeare and Sor Juana; in Borges' whole literary output; in Jean Piaget's 'genetic epistemology'; in the plan of 'living to tell the tale' of writers like Gabriel Garcia Márquez, Elias Canetti, Georges Perec, Vladimir Nabokov, Michel Leiris; in the painful encounters with the mirror recounted by prominent women writers; in the history of the development of the suspicious literary genre known as 'autobiography'. He invites his reader to travel through this book as if on a safari hunting for first memories -her/his own included. This is the English version of the first volume of a trilogy on memory. Néstor A. Braunstein is an Argentine M.D. and psychoanalyst who lives in Mexico and teaches psychoanalysis in Graduate Departments of several Amarican and European Universities. He pioneered the introduction of the teachings of Lacan in Mexico. His book on Jouissance (a Lacanian Concept) is considered as an essential reference and has been translated into different languages.…
