Paperback. Condición: New. Geta Bratescu (b. Ploie?ti, 1926; d. Bucharest, 2018) is now widely regarded as one of Eastern Europe's most important avant-gardists. In the Western art world, however, she was largely obscure until her participation in documenta 14 in 2017 and the Biennale di Venezia of the same year.Questions of abstraction, the political potential of the image, and the subjective experience of self, memory, and history inform her stylistically diverse oeuvre in a wide range of media, which evolved under the repressive conditions of the Ceausescu regime yet kept pace with the discourses of the Western avant-gardes.This richly illustrated volume focuses on her collages and drawings as well as her works on film and video from the late 1970s until her death. With contributions by Geta Bratescu, Pernille Fonnesbech, Ion Grigorescu, Marian Ivan, Albert Kriemler, Stefan Sava, Roland Wäspe, and Lorenz Wiederkehr.…

Gebunden. Condición: Sehr gut. Gebraucht - Sehr gut Ungelesenes, vollständiges Exemplar; in sehr gutem Zustand, leichte Lagerspuren, als Mängelexemplar gekennzeichnet -Geta Bratescu (b. Ploie ti, 1926, d. Bucharest, 2018) is now widely regarded as one of Eastern Europe's most important avant-gardists. In the Western art world, however, she was largely obscure until her participation in documenta 14 in 2017 and the Venice Biennale of the same year. Questions of abstraction, the political potential of the image, and the subjective experience of self, memory, and history inform her stylistically diverse oeuvre in a wide range of media, which evolved under the repressive conditions of the Ceau escu regime yet kept pace with the discourses of the Western avant-gardes. This richly illustrated volume focuses on her collages and drawings as well as her works on film and video from the late 1970s until her death., Geta Bratescu gilt heute als eine der wichtigsten Avantgardist:innen Osteuropas. 244 pp. Deutsch, Englisch.…

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Immediate dispatch from Somerset. Nice book in great condition. Pages in excellent condition. Hardcover. English. See images for condition. About the book >.>.> Revisiting my own critical commentary on works by Geta Br?tescu, the texts I published before 1978. when I left Romania for good, I find I still completely agree with my own analysis. This is not merely due to my self-consistency, but also and essentially to the coherence of her work in progress. When I recently revisited her oeuvre, the production of her "Ongoing Studio," I discovered an essential continuity. Bratescu's work expanded by concentrically growing around its medullar axis and by radial diffusion it flourished exorbitantly without ever concealing its roots. Reiterated iconographic motifs and combinatorial operations that proceed by repositioning their elements lend it a good measure of foreseeability, However the intricately branching variants imply an ongoing reinvention. The literary reasoning which accompanies it is part of the process as it explains her own creative acts, thus anticipating any critical analysis. A valid productive system resulted from the management of this heterogeneous stock, a cr.…
