Ihre Gesamtzahl beträgt ca. 3.500. Sie kommen vor allem aus dem Gebiet der antiken Stadt Kos, dem weltberühmten Heiligtum des Asklepios vor den Toren der Stadt und aus den Demen Halasarna, Antimachia und Isthmos.
