Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Seven Words Around the Cross invites readers on a profound exploration of the voices that shaped the crucifixion narrative of Jesus Christ. Moving beyond the well-known 'Seven Words on the Cross,' this insightful book delves into the actions and words of seven key individuals and groups pre…sent at the crucifixion: Pontius Pilate, the Centurion, the Soldiers, the Crowd, the Two Robbers, and the Religious Leaders. Each chapter unpacks their roles and statements, revealing how their interactions unveiled the truth about Christ's identity as the Messiah, King, and Saviour.Written by distinguished theologians and ministers, this book combines deep biblical scholarship with practical lessons for contemporary faith. Readers will gain fresh perspectives on Jesus' kingship, divinity, and sacrificial mission, while also confronting themes of repentance, faith, and the universality of Christ's message. With reflections tailored to African Christianity, the book bridges the historical context of the Bible with modern-day relevance, helping readers navigate their spiritual journey with renewed clarity. At the heart of this work is a call to introspection and transformation. By examining the confessions and doubts of those around the cross, readers are challenged to see their own lives mirrored in the unfolding story of redemption. The book also provides practical applications for evangelism, leadership, and discipleship, making it a valuable resource for pastors, students, and lay Christians alike. With vivid insights and a commitment to theological depth, Seven Words Around the Cross is an essential read for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Christ's death and its enduring impact on faith and life. Hardback. Condición: New. This book examines the translations of selected miracle stories from the Hebrew Bible, Septuagint (LXX) and the Greek New Testament into selected Ghanaian mother-tongues, considering possible shifts of meaning that occur in translating. 1Kings 18:25-38, Mark 9:14-29 and Luke 7:11-17 are used as case stu…dies. The author draws out semiotic-hermeneutical nuances of these texts as they are understood in the Ghanaian context and addresses questions in the field of Biblical studies concerning the relevance of intercultural hermeneutics for current trends in Ghanaian Christianity. Particularly important is the high premium placed on 'miracles' in present-day Ghanaian spirituality, making a careful analysis of these stories particularly relevant for the Ghanaian audience. The study also explores several factors that influence the translation process and have a bearing on the reception and use of the text. It follows the growing calls for a shift in African Biblical hermeneutics from the theological heritage of Europe and America to the emerging theological trajectories of Africa. This post-colonial shift re-examines the translated text, moving from what the text might have meant to what the text might mean in Africa.
