Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book navigates the history of mapped and reported hazards of the sea. The author presents cases of sunken rocks, sand bars, and other phenomena which have posed dangers to mariners since the era of sail. This book examines cartographic history and nautical lore of the 18th and 19th centuries to sort out what was real and what was imagined, and shines a light on how these perceived dangers have impacted the trade routes and the collective knowledge of the world's oceans. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
