This is 2 volumes of a 3-volume catalogue describing and illustrating the collection of Indian miniatures belonging to Alfred Beatty, a copper mining mogul, known for owning one of the world's greatest collections of oriental and western miniatures and manuscripts. The illustrations depict the artwork of eminent Mughal court painters and artists from the 16th century and beyond and are very high quality ("The main feature of the catalogue was all along intended to be the illustrations, which were to be of the highest possible quality. They speak for themselves, and it is to be hoped that their fidelity as facsimiles, which can be vouched for, will be appreciated by scholars." - from the introduction).
