Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fair. First Edition, First Printing. 271p. Ex-library. A brown cloth hardcover book in acceptable condition. Spine ends and corners visibly worn, and front and back boards are stained. Library markings inside and sticker residue on spine. Pages lightly age-toned and foxed, and there are occasional spotty stains as well, not affecting the readability of the text. Small tear at bottom of front free endpaper. The binding is a bit shaken, but tight enough for reading purposes. Usually published under the title A JOURNEY FROM LA TRAPPE TO ROME, this is a work by Trappist monk Ferdinand de Geramb (1772-1848). After being imprisoned by Napoleon as a lieutenant-general for Austria, the nobleman Geramb entered a monastery and eventually became procurator-general of La Trappe. This copy belonged to Archbishop John B. Purcell of Cincinnati (1800-1883), whose signature is on the title page. In the back are foldout charts listing schools, hospitals, and other institutions in Rome.

(Hage-Chahine, n°1855 - Gay, n°3659 - Michaud, Tome XVI, pp. 274 à 276).
