Reading copy only. Spine tips and corners are bumped and frayed and boards somewhat soiled. Pages are toned and soiled, and front free endpapers and first 16 pages sharply creased. Numerous pages are quite chipped and torn, with little or no loss of content. The book has been rebound, and many pages have been repaired or reinforced with paper or cloth. Plates 32, 46, and 51 lacking. This book previously belonged to William Hamilton Russell, a prominent New York architect and partner in the Clinton and Russell architectural firm (est. 1894), which designed many of New York's most prominent buildings including the Beaver Building and the now-demolished Astor Hotel.
