The magnificent illustrations evoke the mysterious and passionate beauty of the stones of Angkor and reveal for the reader a pattern of life long since engulfed by the jungles of Cambodia. Revised ed.; 236 p., clean and unmarked anywhere on strong paper only faintly age-toned; 6 tipped-in plates in color; 115 ill. in photogravure; binding firm; the clean moss-green boards with still bright gilt lettering have minimal wear thanks to the valor of a badly wounded d.j. protecting them from what appears to have been a fierce attack by a pack of bibliophobic hyenas. The long closed tears have been awkwardly patched with clear tape, but there are also open tears at crown of spine panel and at upper corner of front panel. SO--the volume itself is very fine and the d.j. is very poor. 4to. Extra postage.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 2nd Edition. ANGKOR ART AND CIVILIZATION BY B. GROSLIER & J. ARTHAUD 1966 6 COLOR PLATES 115 IN B&W. I have been to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and wish I had seen this book before I went; it would have been a great preparation and guide about what to see. It is a huge site and there is so much to cover. Please find: Angkor Art and Civilization, by Bernard-Philippe Groslier and Jacques Arthaud. This large hard cover book (9 ½ x 11 inches, 236 pages) was published by Frederick A. Praeger of New York and Washington, dated 1966 and the Revised Edition (so stated). The book is bound in warm green cloth with bold gilt titles on the spine; it is protected by a pictorial dust jacket, itself wrapped in a mylar sheath. There are 6 tipped-in plates in color and 115 illustrations in photogravure. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is price-clipped but that is about its only condition issue, no doubt due to the mylar sheath that protects it and the book. There is a small label that says Doubleday on the rear cover of the dust jacket, under the mylar but not clear to what it refers. The hard covers are clean and bright, as are the handsome gilt titles on the spine. The lower front cover has been slightly bumped and there is a small bump on the rear bottom edge as well. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and many, many plates are clean and bright with perhaps some slight, difficult to see, very light toning to the margins of the paper text pages (not the photo pages). Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
