It continues as an international organization with community as well as worldwide projects. Today a simple, inexpensive program like Civitan's candy boxes, with a presence in thousands of motels and restaurant chains and managed entirely by Civitan volunteers, raises an astounding amount of capital. These monies support the organization's Civitan International Research Center, located on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
