Paperback. Condición: As New. *** FREE UPGRADE to Courier/Priority Shipping Upon Request *** - *** IN STOCK AND IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT - Flawless copy, brand new, pristine, never opened -- 150 pages. Description: " 'East Village USA' revisits the sprawling, renegade art scene that flourished in the East Village durin…g the 1980s. Many prominent artists, including Jeff Koons, Kiki Smith, Peter Halley, and Philip Taaffe began their careers in the occasionally makeshift storefront galleries that prospered for several years as low-priced alternatives to Soho's rapid gentrification. Representing traditional media such as painting, sculpture, and photography, while emphasizing the film, music, and performance art of the period, this lavishly illustrated exhibition catalogue contains works by more than 75 artists, as well as documentary photographs of people, galleries, performance spaces, and clubs. It provides a striking contribution to the resurgence of interest in a brief but little documented and even less understood period of art history. Covering the stylistic gamut from graffiti and punk expressionism to Neo-Geo and appropriation through some 200 images, 'East Village USA' examines the key exhibition sites and events that shaped the neighborhood and includes work by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Sarah Charlesworth, Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Lady Pink, Tom Otterness, Kenny Scharf, Fiona Templeton, Tseng Kwong Chi, David Wojnarowicz, and many others." [Catalogue Raisonne, Catalog Raisonnà , Complete Works, Life and Work, Raisonnee] -- with a bonus offer-- - May be EITHER: out of print (OOP) and extremely rare in this pristine condition; signed by author or contributor; or a first or special edition; (inquire for details); East Village USA revisits the sprawling, renegade art scene that flourished in the East Village during the 1980s. Añadir al carritoFirst Edition. Octavo. 26cm. Publisher's illustrated paper covered boards. 196pp. Some very slight wear to boards, mostly limited to a couple of small scratches to the laminate, clean and bright; internally clean, signed and dated (with kisses and hugs) by Penny Arcade to the title page. A very good, attractive copy. A collectio…n of essays and performance pieces interspersed with interviews and editorial commentary, providing a kind of retrospective of Penny Arcade's long career as an incendiary and divisive performance artist (she is virtually the originator of the term in its modern context), and her collaborations with artists like Jayne County, Patti Smith, Mink Stole, John Waters, and the majestic Quentin Crisp. Signed.
