Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Illustrated Edition. "Anthology of Wine" - edited by Jean Mowat with a Foreword by ANDRE SIMON. Circa 1940's (there is no date of publication stated); W.H. Houldershaw; Essex, UK. The book comes with its original dust jacket, which is un-clipped with the price intact on the front flap. Illustrations by William Stirling. The book is a collection of poetry and prose related to wine from writers and works such as Don Juan, Robert Louis Stevenson, Shakespeare, Chaucer, Andre Simon, Charles Dickens, Longfellow, and many more. From the dust jacket: "This is the book for those who find themselves at their best over a glass of wine, for it contains a rich selection from all that has been sung and said down the pages in praise of man's solace and inspiration. Quotations familiar and obscure are to be found here, expressing every stage of conviviality in word-pictures from the pens of our greatest poets and writers, while William Stirling's arresting illustrations depict various tranquil moods of expansive relaxation. A book which will afford the connoisseur of both wine and literature a double satisfaction for his discerning palate." Condition: Clean covers and spine. Bright gilt on the front cover and spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the text pages are clean with no writing, stains, foxing or tears. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the original price intact on the front flap; tanning along the perimeter of the covers and the spine; clean flaps; tiny paper pieces missing at the top/bottom edges of the spine.overall the jacket is in Very Good- condition.
