Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an in-depth analysis of the factors that led to the defeat of Mayor John Purroy Mitchel in the 1917 New York City mayoral election. The author argues that Fusion, the reform movement that Mitchel led, failed to live up to its promises of improved governance and accountability. The book examines the various reasons for this failure, including Mitchel's controversial involvement in a stolen Republican primary, his administration's handling of real estate deals, and its mishandling of the Gary school system. The author also discusses the impact of the loyalty issue on the election, as well as the role of budget pledges and budget claims. Ultimately, the book offers valuable lessons about the challenges of urban reform and the importance of political accountability. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
