Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book focuses on a fundamental question about the eye: how it moves. Specifically, it asks, "What are all the possible ways the eye can move?" and "Which of these possible ways actually occur?" Historically, eye movement research has been dominated by a focus on the muscles of the eye and their actions, but this approach has important limitations. The author takes a new approach, focusing instead on the geometry of eye movements. This leads to important insights into the physiology of the eye and the way it functions. The book progresses in three parts. The first part lays the mathematical and physiological groundwork for the rest of the book. The second part derives a general law of eye movements, explains its physiological consequences, and explores the mathematical structure of that law. The third part presents experimental results that verify the law. Throughout, the author provides a wealth of illustrative figures and diagrams to help the reader visualize the complex concepts being discussed. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the physiology of the eye and the way it functions. It is a significant contribution to the field and is sure to be influential for years to come. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
