Immunoassay is the technique by which proteins or protein-bound molecules may be measured, using the high affinity between antigens and their specific antibodies, and the principles and laboratory practice of this method are ths subject of this book. Immunoassay uses the antigen-antibody complexes which are isolated by a combination of methods which include filtration, centrifugation, specific absorption and electrophoresis. Each chapter of this book aims to explore the basic physical and chemical principles involved in the immunoassay techniques discussed. The book also looks at the optimization and limitations of methodology and concludes with a brief overview of the application of the performance of the technology. The book is aimed at analysts who have cause to use an immunassay method.
