Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the value and urgent need for establishing a system of rapid steam-powered communication between India and major ports throughout the British Empire. Written during the mid-19th century, the author draws from recent experiments to provide a comprehensive assessment of the best routes for such a system, focusing particularly on the Red Sea, and examines the economic, social, and political benefits that an efficient communication system would provide. By dramatically reducing transit times of both people and correspondence, the author argues that such a system would greatly improve conditions for the people of India, provide security, and foster commerce, strengthening the bond between India and Britain during a time of rapid change. The author concludes by asserting that this would be an investment in the future and strength of both nations, underscoring its profound benefits. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
