Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: About Fine. First Edition. A Fine copy in dark chocolate brown cloth stamped in gilt at spine and on front cover. Lacking the original, fragile paper dustwrapper, now in a protective supplied acetate wrapper. 48pp. with many small black and white photographic illustrations. Presentation copy, from the Author-Architect Eric Mendelsohn, to Karl von Hacht, a Bay Area lighting designer, at the request of Henry Hill, architect who designed von Hacht's residence in the Berkeley Hills in 1952; with a pencil sketch of a building, in Mendelsohn's characteristic "heroic" style, annotated "A quick sketch for a quick recovery, 7/18/47 Eric Mendelsohn." Laid in is the original note from Henry Hill, gifting the book to von Hacht "Hope you enjoy these lectures, there's a lot in them!" Original drawings by Mendelsohn, a high Modernist, are coveted; his early architectural fantasies, done in the trenches during World War One, have been the subject of separate exhibitions. His work includes the Einstein Tower, and many other notable commissions. Offline images available on request. Q13277.
