Illustrated throughout in black and white with 31 wood block engravings by Eric Ravilious. Original tipped in wood engraving made by Eric Ravilious for the title page of the 'Travel' category for the Dent Everyman Library. Set in Perpetua which was designed by Eric Gill c1925 and was used by Dent to accompany Ravilious's 'Everyman' Designs from 1935 - 1953. Printed by Michael Mitchell at the Libanus Press on Zerkall mould-made paper and bound by Smith Settle. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Issued in a edition of 425 copies of which this is number 325. There was also an edition of 87 copies, numbered in Roman numerals, which accompanied a portfolio of twenty original wood engravings by Eric Ravilious. With an original tipped-in wood engraving, and thirty-one Ravilious' device designs, reproduced in actual size, and six more printed in red as header piece and a title page decorations. A sliver of discoloration to upper edge of front board, and upper- and fore edge of rear board, else a fine copy of a handsome production. No dust wrapper required.

The portfolio (9 x 6.5 x 2 inches) brings together Ravilious's work for Curwen and Dent with 20 engravings printed from the original wood blocks in a specially designed portfolio. The edition is limited to 75 copies, this being numbered 56/75. The portfolio of prints is accompanied by a book, also numbered 56/75, containing tributes to Ravilious by John Lewis and by his contemporaries, Enid Marx and Robert Harling, and a tipped in frontis of an original wood-engraving. Each wood-engraving in the portfolio is mounted in a stiff cotton-rag mount and printed on white Zerkall paper and numbered 56/75. The lettering to the paper label on spine of portfolio is slightly faded, as is the pattern paper along the top of the portfolio, otherwise fine. The engravings and the book are in perfect original condition.
