As a promotional premium, Lorillard issued miniature Persian rugs, sometimes inserted in packages, sometimes send in redemption of inserted coupons. Overall rug dimensions, including fringe, 4 1/2" by 2 3/16". Outside frame dimensions 6 1/8" x 4 1/16". Plastic frame does have one corner thinly cracked; Zubelda Cigarettes stamp on reverse - not always present, in any case - is blurred; blurring to one degree or often occurred when printing on the matrix of thin thread. Scarce Vintage Tobacco Ephemera. This is not a modern inexpensive miniature rug - nor anything like those. In wood frame - apparently bamboo, but wood with certainty. Cardboard backing. Acquired from a Syracuse area curio shop, which in turn acquired it from an "unusual" woman who had inherited several different of these in the 1930s, who is believed to have done the framing, and who (late 90s) was oddly reluctant to part with these. With glass plate, laid on tan-stained rice paper. See scans. In 1911, the P. Six are 8 x 10", one 6.25 x 9.5". Removal marks, one has an abrasion, three have creasing, notations and heavy soiling on reverse (includes Toledo T…imes) and one lacks a corner, remainder have light wear and creasing, "1940" is written in the margins of two images. The photos: Drivers and delivery vehicles lined up in front of the business (license plate reads 1937, small photo), another photo almost identical; two delivery vans with staff in front (exterior with no cars/people); salesman pulling out/putting in a carpet in a delivery truck (General Motors); the remaining two show a man in each one cleaning a carpet. Advertising on their building: "Feathers Renovated", "Furniture Cleaned" and "Rugs Dusted By Compressed Air." Sold as a lot.
