Elle contient le "Dialogue des cours" et le "Dialogue du jeu", nécessaires compléments aux premiers ragionamenti de l'Arétin (1492-1556), plus "putanesques" et scabreux, et formant avec ces derniers un formidable tableau des moeurs italiennes du XVIe siècle, plein de vie et composé dans un style étincelant. Les deux titres sont ornés d'un portrait en médaillon gravé sur bois : l'Arétin y est représenté de profil, entouré de la légende "D. Petrus Aretinus Flagellum Principum". L'ouvrage sort des presses de l'éditeur et typographe John Wolf (+ 1601), ancien apprenti de John Day, et peut-être un temps collaborateur des Giunti à Florence. Installé à Londres en face du Château et près de la porte sud de St Paul, il imprima des livres protégés par des privilèges attribués à d'autres éditeurs, ce qui lui valut d'être emprisonné en 1582. Ses éditions italiennes publiées à Londres - comprenant des oeuvres de l'Arétin, de Machiavel, etc. - sont signées de pseudonymes et d'adresses fantaisistes. Exemplaire imprimé sur papier fin - celui conservé dans l'Enfer de la BnF est sur un papier plus épais -, finement relié à Bruxelles dans les années 1870 par Émile Bosquet (1834-1912). Si tratta di un breve poemetto in endecasillabi (ABABABCC), suddiviso in due canti (ciascuno con propria paginazione), che narra la storia della giovane Grisante, tradita per denaro dalla sua serva. Qualche informazione ce la forniscono due antiche note manoscritte, di mano ottocentesca, apposte alla seconda sguardia: «Questo poemetto inedito stampato a Bergamo verso il 1630 è ricordato dal solo Passano nella seconda edizione de' suoi Novellieri Italiani in verso. In cui cita l'esemplare della Biblioteca Comunale di Bergamo». E una seconda mano aggiunge: «Nota dell'on. C. Lochis Dep. a Bergamo.
