The author, a prominent 18th-century philosopher, examines the role of vibrations in sensory perception and their subsequent influence on emotions and actions. By combining logical and mathematical reasoning with experimental observations, this book proposes a comprehensive system that connects the physical world to the realm of human experience, morality, and spirituality. The author's profound insights into the workings of both matter and mind offer a fresh perspective on how we perceive and interact with reality, making this book a valuable resource for scholars, philosophers, psychologists, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the human condition. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Añadir al carritoLeather. Condición: Very Good. None Ilustrador. A handsome example of the fourth edition of David Hartley's important philosophical work 'Observations on Man', uniformly bound alongside the third edition of Pistorius's study of Hartley and his work. Present here is the 1801 fourth edition of 'Observations on Man', complete in two volumes, alongside the single volume 1801 third edition of 'Notes and Additions to Dr. Hartley's Observations on Man' by Hermann Andreas Pistorius. 'Observations on Man' by David Hartley is a major philosophical work putting forth two central theories from the author: the doctrine of vibrations and the doctrine of associations. These ideas surround the connection between the human body and the mind, and with the duty and expectations of mankind. The work was first published in 1749 by Samuel Richardson. The second work present here is the third edition of Hermann Andreas Pistorius's critical study of Hartley's work, in which he also includes a biography of the author. With the bookplate of Peter Scupham to the front pastedown. In half calf bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, excellent. Front joint of volume III starting, with board firmly held. Bookplate to volume I front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned due to paper type, but generally clean and bright. Very Good. book.
